PresentAutomating Education

Orqa

An AI-powered educational platform that amplifies educator expertise through intelligent content generation.

Professors often spend 10+ hours of time each week creating and grading materials. Orqa represents a paradigm shift: not replacing educators, but amplifying their expertise through four core capabilities: Generative Lectures that transform topics into structured materials, Intelligent Dialogue with context-aware AI tutoring, Document Synthesis for instant knowledge distillation, and Adaptive Assessment with evolving tests.

Built on a modern stack with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) for large documents, agentic workflows for autonomous multi-step reasoning, and full customizability, Orqa ensures every output is grounded, contextual, and entirely under educator control.

01

Discovery & Validation

Supported interviews with educators across Edmonton schools to validate the problem space. Helped identify key pain points: time-intensive content creation, lack of personalization at scale, and fragmented tool ecosystems. Worked with the team to validate that AI-assisted content generation could meaningfully reduce educator workload while preserving pedagogical control.

02

Architecture & Development

Contributed to the full-stack platform using React with TypeScript for the frontend, Express.js and MongoDB for the backend, and Tailwind CSS for responsive design. Worked on the RAG pipeline for document processing, agentic workflows for multi-step content generation, and Docker-based deployment for scalable infrastructure.

03

Iterative Refinement

Participated in feedback loops with pilot schools to refine AI outputs, improve user experience, and ensure pedagogical alignment. Iterated on prompt engineering, context window management, and customization interfaces based on real classroom usage patterns.

Contributed to a platform deployed across multiple schools in Edmonton, supporting recognition from the community school board for innovative educational technology.

Helped reduce content creation time by ~60% while maintaining pedagogical control and curriculum alignment across diverse educational standards.

Built RAG-based document processing for entire textbooks, agentic workflows for autonomous content generation, and interactive AI tutoring with context-aware explanations and visualizations.

The biggest takeaway was that educators adopt AI tools when they keep control. Grounded RAG outputs and tight classroom feedback mattered more than flashy generation on its own.
